Five New Businesses Opening Amidst Covid-19 in the Hudson Valley

In the face of COVID-19, these five businesses are defying the odds and opened their doors to customers right here in the Hudson Valley.

Hudson Valley Cheesecake, New Paltz

Hudson Valley Cheesecake opened in August 2020. Located in New Paltz, they’re a family-owned and operated culinary experience. Owner Dana offers an array of gourmet cheesecakes that are made from scratch daily. Hudson Valley Cheesecake changes its flavors periodically, so there’s always something new and exciting to look forward to. During the holidays, they offered sample boxes of different cheesecakes for gift recipients to try… it was genius.

Hudson & Packard, Poughkeepsie

Hudson & Packard is a Detroit-style pizzeria located in Poughkeepsie; which opened in October 2020. Hudson & Packard was started in September of 2019 where they began offering their pie weekly from The Underwear Factory – Poughkeepsie Community Kitchen. When COVID-19 hit, operations at The Underwear Factory came to a halt. With their pop-up unable to continue, owner Charlie decided to make Hudson & Packard a permanent fixture in the community on Academy Street.

Handsome Devil, Newburgh

Handsome Devil, a barbecue restaurant in Newburgh, opened in November 2020. The Handsome Devil brand is a multi-state BBQ championship award winner. Handsome Devil was named the principal barbecue vendor for the NYC Beer, Bourbon & BBQ festival, caterer for Warner Brothers movie premiers, and much more. Owners Ed and Noelle Randolph are Hudson Valley residents who are sharing their love of barbecue with the community and seeing great success while doing so.

The Snooki Shop, Beacon

The Snooki Shop in Beacon opened in November 2020. Hudson Valley native, Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki, known from the reality show, Jersey Shore, brought her business to Beacon. This is their second location – the original located in Madison NJ – and I’m so excited that it has found its way to the Hudson Valley. For all of your shopping needs, you need to get your butt to Beacon.

Il Figlio Enoteca, Fishkill

Il Figlio Enoteca, located in Fishkill, is set to open up any day now. As of publication, the Italian eatery is still in the renovation process. The owner, Scott, is keeping everyone updated on the progress by posting on the brand’s Instagram and Facebook. While the official opening date hasn’t yet been revealed, you can order their delicious food for takeout or purchase a gift certificate on their website. I can’t wait to eat on the mezzanine!
