Hello to all! My name is Laura Varela and it is a pleasure to introduce myself as the Marketing Assistant for the Tipsy Social team.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, I am now a resident of Poughkeepsie and hold an affinity for mom-and-pop businesses in local communities. The Locust Grove Estate, Rough Draft Bar & Books, and Maya Cafe have all become personal favorites of mine throughout the Hudson Valley (and miss them dearly while in quarantine from COVID-19). I was thrilled when offered the position to join Tipsy Social, and become part of their mission statement to help small businesses and implement an easy-to-understand approach to marketing and design. With a passion for marketing and branding, this was the opportunity.

A proud graduate of SUNY Oneonta ‘18, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with minors in Journalism and Theatre. Past professional experiences include Polk & Company as the Publicity Intern, aiding clients including Beetlejuice, Network, The Prom, Come From Away, and Wicked, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce as the Community Relations Specialist and the IBM Corporation as a Marketing and Communications Intern. 

While I am not working some of my favorite pastimes include practicing the violin (classically trained but hoping to work in some fiddle tunes!), brainstorming some new embroidery designs, attempting to beat my 5k runtime (not quite there yet…but someday!) and enjoying some virtual farming in Stardew Valley, a popular indie RPG. 

I am looking forward to this wonderful experience with the Tipsy Social team, and am ready to help small business owners grow and perfect their craft.
